The patina on this coffee table is breathtaking! It is a perfect compliment to Chunky Charlie and Delicate Daisy…..Let me introduce you to Sturdy Stan!
The top and upper sides are made from 130 year old floor boards salvaged from a farmhouse in Randall, Iowa. They have been sanded & clear-coated to highlight every nuance. The legs are rough-sawn Wisconsin pine, sanded to an almost silky finish. To finish off this beautiful piece, the lower side boards are salvaged from a 1940’s Iowa farm shed and complimented with repurposed pallet boards for the bottom shelf, providing ample storage space for books, videos, games or baskets.
Because the top has been clear-coated, it is water resistant making it a breeze to clean up. The legs and bottom shelf are raw wood sanded to a velvety touch, but will show water stains if liquid is allowed to soak in.
Sturdy Stan not only serves as a coffee table, but can be used for additional seating! So not only is it beautiful but functional and a great conversation starter! Won’t you consider giving it a permanent home?

Over time, wood stabilizes with the moisture content of the room in which is it displayed. This process may result in some shrinkage along the top of the table. To minimize this effect, I allow time for the wood to stabilize before assembling the pieces. Even so, there may be some additional movement in the wood over time as it acclimates to your home. Every table that I create is an unique piece of art, and I believe this stabilization process along with the natural variations in color and aging appearance adds to the intrinsic charm of these distressed pieces.
