Interior Designer vs.
Architectural Designer

What is the difference between an interior designer and an architectural designer?

Simply put, an architectural designer designs building interiors & space layouts while an interior designer focuses on the actual furnishing and decoration of an interior.

What does an architectural designer do?

An architectural designer will come up with concept designs based on the functionality and structure of an existing building. Architectural designers design with adaptive reuse in mind, often focusing on the sustainable re-modeling of existing buildings.

The Process

Steps of a Remodel

1

The initial meeting will consist of talking through your needs and desires for your project, while getting to know a little about you, the homeowner. During this time Laura will take pictures & measurements of your existing space.

2

After the meeting, Laura will create 2-3 layout options for your project using her design software.

3

After finalizing the new layout, she will create an approximation of your space in a 3D Rendering to help visualize the function and feel of the new design.

4

Clients will be integral in the decision making of materials & products used throughout the process. Your input and feedback is important.

5

Demolition! Next we need to remove any old surfaces, walls, cabinets and framing to make room for the new. This phase may be undertaken by the homeowner, if they so choose.

6

Then Laura and her team get to work on creating your dream kitchen or bath. Clients will provide feedback throughout the process.
